While many people attempt to provide the warmth to their litter by having the pups in the family house with the central heating running constantly or perhaps a series of heat lamps or heaters running, the best way to ensure that your pups are kept warm and secure is by using a purpose built ‘Heated Whelping Box’. These boxes have been designed specifically for the purpose of providing a perfect environment for a pregnant bitch to have her litter of pups. The base of the box is heated in much the same way your electric blanket works with a temperature control to ensure the heat is not too high or too low, each box has an adjustable slat opening enabling your bitch to easily enter and exit the box while preventing any wandering pups from leaving the security of the whelping box. The base is water resistant to ensure any puppy piddle does not get onto the heating element, the edges of the box are protected with aluminum to discourage chewing of the sides by bored pups and the power cord securely run through conduit to ensure neither mum nor pups get close to the power cord.
Cleaning the box is as easy as a wipe with a detergent/disinfectant soaked cloth. By using a heated whelping box you can be sure that your bitch has her pups where you want her to have them rather than under your bed or in the laundry closet which is where she’d prefer.
